Bistro Des Amis is excited you are visiting our Houston restaurant French specials website.  Our main website is BistroDesAmis.com.  This website is a more informative website about French dining, French wine and Houston French restaurants.

Unlike other cuisines that have been much Americanized such as Italian food, the American French cuisine(s) are intended to be genuine French cooking.  The best in French cooking comes from chefs who were trained in France.  Bernard Cuillier, the founder of Bistro Des Amis was trained and educated in France and holds the highest International ranking a chef can hold.  So, when it comes to Houston French restaurants, Bistro Des Amis offers authentic French foods.

Course Prix Fixe Dinner Menu
Special dinner offered this Fall from Tuesday through Thursday.

Master chef Bernard Cuillier, Founder of Bistro Des Amis is one of the original chefs knighted into the World Master Chef Organization, the highest International honor that can be bestowed upon a chef.

Understanding French food and culture is very important to finding a genuine Houston French restaurant.  Some of the most well known and longest standing Houston "French" restaurants, or those who classify themselves as being a French restaurant here in Houston classify themselves, on their own websites, as being New Orleans style in cuisine, which is not genuine French cooking.  That is Cajun food, not French food.  A difference exists and if those Houston restaurants can classify themselves as French restaurants, then Vietnamese restaurant could classify themselves as French restaurants.  Bistro Des Amis was designed to offer a genuine elegant French cuisine in a casual atmosphere with prices to reflect.  Factually, the Houston Press wrote an article about Bistro Des Amis in 2009, titled, "On a Budget at Bistro Des Amis."  Training is important and yes, other Houston French restaurants' chefs and owners have training in France but, Bernard Cuillier has the rank of Master Chef and and not only has he been knighted into the Master Chef Organization, Bernard was one of the first chefs to be knighted.

Location of this Houston French restaurant is important to a quality afternoon and or evening.  Located on University Boulevard in the Rice Village, an entire afternoon can be planned strolling through Rice Village then enjoying an elegant French meal is a casual Houston French Bistro.  Many Houstonians are fixed on ambiance but, the ambiance Bistro Des Amis has set fits the name of the restaurant, which translates to Bistro of my Friends.  The atmosphere is homey and friendly and Bernard can often be found visiting his patrons in the dining room who are also his friends.
